All Gods Retreat; The Interaction of the Dragon and the Tiger

$89.90

This is a Chinese amulet coin used to drive away bad luck, enhance the sexual desire between men and women, and achieve spiritual harmony.

On the front of it are the words “All Gods Retreat” and Jiang Ziya holding a command flag.

“All Gods Retreat”, simply understood, means making all gods avoid. However, here it actually borrows the sentence from the “Classic of the Hidden Tao”, “People know the divinity as divinity, but they don’t know the reason why the non-divine is divine”, and it is used to generally refer to all strange things. Jiang Ziya is a character in “Investiture of the Gods”. He is originally a mortal but can command the gods with magic tools. There is a folk saying, “Where Grand Duke Jiang is present, all gods retreat”. This pattern itself is a symbol of the belief in driving away bad luck, and it also reflects the concepts of “self-improvement” and “man can conquer nature”.

On the back of it are engraved with a dragon and a tiger. The dragon is a totem of Chinese culture and a mythical creature. The tiger, although a real creature, is chosen as a mount by many immortals. Both of them are one of the “Four Spiritual Beasts” and correspond to Chinese constellations. Among them, the dragon represents the east and is in charge of wind, rain and vitality; the tiger (must be the White Tiger) represents the White Tiger in the west and guards against evil spirits and disasters. When the dragon and the tiger appear together, it implies “harmonious interaction”. “Harmonious interaction” originates from the “Tai Hexagram” in “The Book of Changes”, “When heaven and earth interact, all things are connected”, which means the harmony of yin and yang and the harmony between heaven and earth. Later, it is used to imply the sexual desire between men and women and the prosperity of all things. “The Interaction of the Dragon and the Tiger” is also called “The Union of the Dragon and the Tiger”. Different from “The Harmony of the Dragon and the Phoenix” which blesses marriage and love, “The Interaction of the Dragon and the Tiger” in Taoist “sexual techniques” is simply used to imply the harmonious beauty of sexual relations between men and women.

When the dragon and the tiger appear together, accompanied by clouds and mountains, it forms “The Interaction of the Dragon and the Tiger”. It conforms to the cosmic view of the balance of yin and yang in Taiji, and it also implies the harmony of yin and yang, the exchange of power, the prosperity of all things, and the peace and prosperity of the country.
